TRIBAL TOUCH

We don't have many backless dresses, and we're kind of wondering why that is! They're great for showcasing curves you want to highlight and hiding imperfections in the front. It also caters for those of you who are not too fond of showing too much cleavage since backless dresses/tops gives that balance between modesty and sexiness. It gives a mysterious and classic appeal, which we love! When you want to keep it simple and classy with a bit of sex appeal, backless dresses are the go to item. This particular one we've designed ourselves. Choosing the fabric and cutting of the dress was a lot of fun. We wanted a simple silhouette with a little surprise in the back. If you noticed, we don't have a lot of patterns in our wardrobe, so we wanted to try something new. We chose this fun tribal fabric, which has been quite the trend lately. When you're working with patterns, you want to keep your accessories simple as to not clash with the patterns or to make the look more 'busier' than it should be. Try a backless dress this holiday season or to welcome the new year with a bit of style and allure!

VENUE HIGHLIGHT: MOZAIC BEACH CLUB

One of the best things to do in Bali is to enjoy a beautiful beachfront view in the company of good friends. That's where beach clubs come in. Bali is an island filled with them, and a relatively new one is called Mozaic Beach Club which opened in July 2012 (sister chain to the one in Ubud). It's located on Bali's south coast trendy area of Seminyak in front of Batubelig beach. Currently there's been a ton of hype surrounding this particular spot, and when friends recommended it to us we gladly tried it out.
Getting to the location can be tricky if not familiar with the roads because from the main road it leads to a very small lane leading to the beach, which can be misleading. Mozaic is divided into two parts: a poolside chill-out lounge, and a fine dining restaurant. We were at the lounge and sat near the pool area. We ordered the set menu which we found... tasty - enough. The black mascarpone truffle is recommended, and the calamari salad was delicious for light eating. The view is not the best, since road construction is still underway but it wasn't too bothersome.
It is only towards the evening that the place gets filled, but before that it's quite empty, so it would probably be best to go before 5PM. Overall, it's nice, but we're not super crazy about it! Potato head still takes the cake in terms of beach clubs! :)

ON A BLUE NOTE

(H&M button down shirt, Fashionchic collection accordian dress, Forever 21 necklaces, Marc Jacobs watch, Zara heels)

Hello everyone! So sorry we've been completely MIA the last several weeks, exams and assignments have taken over complete domination. Filled with bliss now that the semester is over and the holidays are beckoning :). We arrived home in Bali a couple days ago and much to our delight, our days have been spent relaxing, lazying, and divulging everything in sight! Before we left Jakarta, we purchased this lovely turquoise/aqua marine dress with an accordion skirt. It's fun and vibrant, a much needed pop of color in our wardrobe. Elizabeth is wearing this paired with a simple white collar buttoned down long sleeved shirt. We tied up the access material and tucked the shirt in in order to showcase more of the skirt of the dress. And of course, we never forget to add gold accessories, double the necklaces, and a classic gold watch. We love this outfit for going out with friends, having dinner etc. It's perfect for those warm Balinese nights!

IT'S ALL IN THE JEANS

I (Maria) was recently asked to be one of the models for an up and coming denim line, Denim N Reality, and of course I happily obliged! They are a local Indonesian brand that you denim lovers out there should definitely look into. Fortunately, they are showcasing all of their latest items at the Jakarta Fashion Market that's coming up on the weekend. So if you're in the Jakarta area, come on down to FX center in Senayan and check it out! :)

SINGAPORE GETAWAY

This was our second visit to Singapore and we had a lovely weekend getaway. Having a chance to visit our Singaporean friends is always a pleasure as they are the nicest guys and such the gentlemen!! We stayed four days and three nights and even though the weather was uncooperative at times, the sightseeing and delicious food made up for it entirely. One of the new sights we visited was Gardens by the Bay. We highly suggest you visit this lovely garden area near Marina Bay Sands during the night time as the views of the gardens lighting up the night sky is absolutely breathtaking. The light show is a must to watch as well, which you can watch from Mondays to Fridays at 19.45 and 20.45. We also had the pleasure of visiting the newly opened W Hotel located in Sentosa Cove. Unfortunately it rained when we visited, but eventually the rain died down and we were able to take some shots of the outside  area. All in all the hotel and pool area was a bit small, and not to be biased (ok maybe a little), we preferred the one in Bali haha. But nonetheless, it's a beautiful hotel.

In terms of the delicious cuisine we tried throughout our stay, we were quite satisfied with all the restaurants/cafes/food stalls/ food areas, that our friends took us. We went to Food for Thought, Wild Honey, TGW, Bugis market, and Antoinette amongst others. The desserts and pastries were especially noteworthy, specifically the Singaporean Surpise pie from TGW. Must try for those of you who have not! Another thing we cannot forget to mention is the shopping in Singapore. It's different than shopping in Jakarta, as in Singapore the stores and merchandise they offer is much more complete and in some instances, cheaper. Special mention to our guy friends who took us to all the shopping centers and were incredibly patient and waited while we undoubtedly shopped for hours! Thank you! haha While it was hard saying goodbye to Singapore, even more so to our wonderful friends, we can't wait to come back and discover new sights in the future :)
