NEW YORK FASHION WEEK - DAY 2

Our second day of New York Fashion week was jam-packed with an exciting TRESemme workshop, E! shooting and the 3.1 Phillip Lim SS15 show! It was, in short, a deeply astonishing and fashionable roller coaster string of events.

The TRESemme workshop was an event held at the Viceroy Hotel where we were exposed to all the new TRESemme products and interacted directly with the TRESemme hairstylists. Furthermore, it was also a chance for us to see New York City from an unbelievable perspective. Check out the view!

I wore a dress from Indonesian brand Alexa-Alexa. This dress had a particularly interesting vocal point and print - human DNA cells! People constantly came up to me and asked if they were either tennis balls or lemons, ha! I must say this was a visually complex piece to say the least. I don't usually opt for a lot of print, but when I do, I go big or go home!

I accessorized with a DKNY clutch and my new favorite silver heels from Dorothy Perkins. Because they pretty much go with everything, you'll be seeing me wear these A LOT.

This year TRESemme decided to team up with the E! Channel, which I will be forever grateful for because honestly, it has always been a dream of mine to work with them! Having come from a broadcasting communications background, it was surreal to work with the leading pop culture channel of my generation. We shot all over the city with E! , both on and off the grounds of Lincoln Center - Central Park, Brooklyn, Times Square, Governor's Island, Soho, Uptown - just to name a few.

Once we were inside the tents of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, we hung out at the TRESemme VIP Bar and even got to see a live E! shooting that featured Kimora Lee Simmons, supermodel Coco Rocha and style icon Alexa Chung. I'm not gonna lie, my heart started beating ferociously when Kimora appeared. Talk about stage presence! Seeing Coco, one of the most celebrated supermodels in the entire business, was also one of those pinch me moments.

Next up was the 3.1 Phillip Lim show. Our first show of the week! The show was held at this very large, very spacious warehouse at Clarkson Square. The venue was decked out in white, lit up by a soft coral light. Naturally, it was a full house.

Lim's SS15 collection was uncomplicated, opulent baroque with a touch of crazed electrified hair. With a Japanese influence that ran throughout the collection, the clothes spoke softly, yet demanded attention to detail. One of my favorites were the sheer navy ankle length trousers. The leather tops, jackets and bags were also a delight. At the end of the show, I got to meet and take a picture with the ever so lovely Jamie Chung. She's known for her role in The Hangover Part II and Once Upon a Time. Jamie Chung is NICE, ya'll. Sweet enough to compliment what I was wearing and asked about what camera I was using! Definitely one of the highlights of that day. :)

NEW YORK FASHION WEEK - DAY 1

New York Fashion Week. It is arguably the biggest time of the year for fashion. Top designers unveil exciting new collections for the entire globe to see. Ultimately, it's an intoxicating time where celebrities, influencers, models, buyers, bloggers, stylists, editors, journalists come together and celebrate the best in fashion.

Now, you might be wondering, what's the difference between New York Fashion Week and Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week? Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week is a set of fashion shows that take place during New York Fashion Week that is sponsored by Mercedes-Benz and produced by IMG. They say more than 100,000 people walk through MBFW, and I'm thrilled to say that, thanks to TRESemme, I was one of those fortunate enough to attend!

So what's the big deal? As Mr. Jarred Clark, global director of production for IMG Fashion Events and Properties, puts it, "Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week is truly a barometer of what's happening in the world. The fashions and trends seen on the runway have an influence to music, culture and the everyday life of people everywhere."

Check out the shots below of my first look.

What does a girl wear to her first time at New York Fashion Week? DKNY of course! I call this the "Drenched-in-New-York-Grey" look. I chose this monochrome checkered-grid drop waist dress from Donna Karan New York, A) for it's cool and unique silhouette and B) it reminded me of what New York City basically is; a city of horizontal and vertical street lines that clash into one another on right angles, forming a grid. P.S, you're going to notice throughout my next posts that I'm a huge fan of black and white!

Sticking to the monochrome theme, I accessorized the dress with a fun, white Manikan fringe bag. If you look closely, the bag itself features some exquisite endek fabric, so I'm happy I got a chance to bring a bit of my Indonesian heritage to New York!

I knew that I had to mix things up in the shoe department, so I went with a pair of baby blue strappy heels from Stradivarius. When working with black and white, it's important to choose one accessory that goes against all that, preferably something that adds a pop of color.

Fashion Week would not have been complete without these pretty ladies! Meet Bethany, Olivia and Regina; my fellow Indonesian fashion bloggers.

There's so much more to come! Stay tuned as I reveal my other NYFW looks, dish on what went down during the shows, and divulge all the E! access. :)

SUGAR & SPICE

 Photos by Andra Ramadhan
Makeup by Bianca Carmelita

Bear with me...three looks in one post! A combination of sugar and spice. A super quick outlook on alter egos. Innocent vs. fierce. Sugar vs. spice. Beyonce vs. Yonce (is there really a difference??). Whatever you may call it, it was a super fun shoot having to play around with these three different looks, especially when the photographer and makeup artist are your really good friends!

I believe we all have these alter egos within us that reveal themselves based on situations we are in, people we are with, or experiences we are dealing with. Maybe one overweighs the other, but I can tell you I have both sugar and spice within me without a doubt! For those who know me inside and out, they have come to know the spicier side of me ;). It's the different facets within us - layer on top of layer that I think makes a person interesting. We are complex beings that only with time can we reveal who we really are to those around us. As time went by, I've learned to reveal that side of me, release my inhibitions, and it feels good.

...it may be time to let your inner Yonce out.
